Tony (Antonio) is a Professor and Practicing Internist at the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine, and an Academician of the National Academy of Science and Technology.  He has participated in several international clinical trials on cardiovascular drugs as National Leader for the Philippines.  He also led the clinical arm of the National Nutrition and Health Survey (NNHeS), which became a national reference for epidemiologic data on lifestyle-related diseases, for 10 years.   He is currently spearheading the Philippine Primary Care Studies, which pilot a primary care system in various communities around the country.

As Lead Investigator, Tony provides overall oversight on RESPOND implementation in the Philippines.

Lia is an Associate Professor in the University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine (UPCM), Section of Adult Medicine.  She is also an Internal Medicine Consultant at the Philippine General Hospital Department of Medicine and Chief of the Community-Oriented Medical Education Unit of UPCM.  She has been involved in several international cardiovascular studies, including clinical trials and epidemiological studies, as national leader and co-investigator.

As the Scientific Project Coordinator, Lia supervises the technical, administrative, and thematic aspects of RESPOND in the Philippines.

Jossa is an eligible civil service professional with more than 10 years of experience in the Development Sector.  She earned her Master’s Degree in Public Management from the University of the Philippines Manila in 2008, after completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 2001.

As the Project Manager, Jossa manages RESPOND's administrative, financial and operational activities in the Philippines.

Arianna is currently completing her graduate studies in Epidemiology at the University of the Philippines, after gaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health at the University of the Philippines Manila. She is also a MAS candidate for a post-graduate degree in Spatial Analysis for Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Arianna started as a Research Associate and is now been promoted to Quantitative Researcher Lead. In this position, she manages the quantitative data collection, analysis, and production of materials for the quantitative component of the project.

Gideon is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of the Philippines in Diliman.  He received his PhD in Medical Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam in 2017 and Master’s Degree in Medical Anthropology in UP Manila in 2014, after graduating as Medical Doctor at the University of the Philippines in 2010.

Veincent Christian Pepito

Veincent obtained his Bachelor's degree in Public Health from the University of the Philippines Manila and his Master's degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has five years of experience working on leprosy, HIV, maternal and child health, and non-communicable diseases with a particular focus on quantitative and qualitative research.

Jhaki is currently completing her graduate studies in Medical Anthropology at the University of the Philippines Manila, after gaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Her research interests include applied anthropology, medical anthropology, health-seeking behaviour, and medical ecology.

Marysol Astrea Balane

Marysol has recently obtained her Master’s degree in Public Health for Development from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her work over the past eight years has centered on strategic communication planning and implementing social marketing campaigns designed to impact positive health outcomes. In her experience as a health communications specialist, she had worked for and regularly coordinated with various organizations, including government agencies, local and international NGOs  and the media

 

As a Research Associate, she is currently conducting the stakeholder analysis study for the RESPOND project and also providing support for the communications team.

Eunice completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila. She is currently taking up a Master’s Degree in Communication Research at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Eunice has been involved in related research and communication activities of various health research projects.

 

Eunice started as a Project Assistant and is now part of the qualitative research team. As a Research Assistant involved in the collection, analysis, and publication. She is also the project coordinator for communications design and strategy in the Philippines.

Christine completed her MSc in International Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2016.  She received her Postgraduate Diploma in International Health from the University of the Philippines Open System University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of St. Tomas, Manila

During her time at RESPOND, Christine led the stakeholder analysis and prepared the Manila Team for the quantitative data collection, analysis, and production of materials for the quantitative component of the project.

 

 

Sarah has been working in the field of development and humanitarian communication for more than 10 years, specialising in developing content for a wide range of audiences and platforms. She has a degree in Development Communication and post-graduate training in multimedia journalism, media production, dialogue with communities and designing advocacy strategies. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in ASEAN Studies.

 

As communication specialist, Sarah developed and is in charge of implementing the communication strategy for RESPOND in Manila, including community engagement activities.
